LOVE...

The first time the word LOVE is used in the scriptures is By God Himself to Abraham about Isaac his son. God tells Abraham to sacrifice the son He has given him “whom he loves”.

Genesis 22:2 He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you."

God said Isaac was Abraham’s only son! Was he? As far as the son of promise in the plan of God he was.

Imagine how this affected Abraham! He is being asked to choose between two loves. First His love for God almighty and the obedience which is the fruit of that love or Isaac his son of promise given from God. He must have been conflicted between the two. Or was he?

Genesis 22:2 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

Although I can’t imagine that sleepless night Abraham must have had, he arose early to carry out the will of his first love. We all know that Abraham proved to God that Day the active Love he had for Him. This incident, orchestrated by God, hundreds of years ago, is a type or shadow for our understanding of God Himself actively manifesting His love for us in giving Jesus His son, HIS ONLY SON, the son of promise for us.

God gave His son of his first Love, for all the sons of His love, so that we too might be a part of the promise of salvation. His love of action for us! God never required Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. That would be God’s burden with His only begotten Son! But we can better see because of this account how much God values us to give such a precious gift of His innocent Son for another... Us!

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

God’s giving was an active Love for all of us who recognize and desire the healing we so desperately need in the forgiveness of our sins against God our Almighty Creator. So who is God’s first love of His actions? Could it be me! Then who is my first love of action? Should it be God and the Son He placed in my place as the propitiation for my sins, Jesus Christ my Lord!

Revelation 2:4 'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 'Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place — unless you repent.

My love for my FIRST LOVE is proven in my actions of my love!
