Is My Prayer Heard?
IS MY PRAYER HEARD?
It is hard sometimes to continue to pray and not know what God is doing... to not be able to see what our Lord Jesus might be up to! When Jesus healed the blind man in John 9 it made an impression on him immediately, because the action happened immediately. But it still did not persuade the Jewish leadership because they were unwilling to see the greater works of God which did not correlate with their idea of their times. So when they asked the blind man he gave the honest understanding of God’s people at the time, based on the understanding of Old Testament scriptures...
John 9:31 "We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him. Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. "If this man were not from God, He could do nothing."
His statement recognized the power and will of God as sovereign! Able to do what God wills under His own Laws. Therefore He accepted this obvious miracle and the man who did it as from the Almighty God! In so doing he testified to the power of God and His ability to act as He so choses without any restrictions from men who cannot see, nor do we understand the power of the omniscience of our God! The wise man Solomon put it this way...
Ecclesiastes 11:4 He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap.
If we are so busy trying to manage things in our lives ourselves... things we have no control over and cannot influence in any way... things that belong to God... then we will never get anything done. Instead we must trust... we must understand that God is in control and pray or petition Him according to his will!
ECC. 11:4 Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things.
When men start to think they are as smart as or smarter than God and does not need God’s help they of course have fallen into a pride of destruction and judgment, replacing God with themselves, which leaves God little choice but to give them over to their own pride and their fall.
1 Corinthians 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.
Instead what should we do???
ECC. 11:4 Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good.
If we are willing to go about our lives doing what we know we need to do and then petitioning God for the things that are His.... trusting in Him to do what is best for us... then we are allowing God to have His sovereignty over us as our King... as our Lord.
James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.
James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
Whether sick in the flesh... or in the spirit... we of all people should be willing to give it to God as Sovereign!
