Sobermindedness

BECOMING SOBERMINDED IN SPIRIT...

Acts 26:22 "So, having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, stating nothing but what the Prophets and Moses said was going to take place; that the Christ was to suffer, and that by reason of His resurrection from the dead He would be the first to proclaim light both to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles." While Paul was saying this in his defense, Festus said in a loud voice, "Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great learning is driving you mad." But Paul said, "I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but I utter words of sober truth.

Ponder for a moment standing before the Almighty...

Ponder feeling the shame and the guilt of the recognition of the sins of our lives in the flesh... before the righteous God in heaven.

Would we feel the need for some help?

Would we desperately plead for mercy!

1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

We have that help... we have an Advocate in Jesus the Christ... we know and we have such great gratitude... because...

and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins;

Jesus will be with those who have chosen to be with Him.

and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

Jesus will plead the case for the contrite and the broken hearted...

Those of us who through a sobermindedness now... have recognized our need for help long before we stand in judgment before our Creator!

By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.

The expectation of Jesus and His Father are not to be dismissed or taken lightly...

Their grace is not without a reciprocal grace expected from us...

The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected.

The completion of our faith... brought to its perfection in love respects their lovingkindness

by living a life of loyalty... a life of lovingkindness toward them and our brethren!

By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

By living a life of discipleship... following the Master we will become the children God desires us to be!

John 1:16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.
