Count your blessings

When we count our blessings,

Especially in times of insecurity and fear, we need to refocus our minds on the good things we have from God as the lovingkindness of His blessings rather than focusing on the things of distress.

While this is vital in maintaining a positive and thankful attitude, we should remember scripture says we should ramp up our attitude even higher to a heart that will BLESS THE LORD!

But how can little ole' me bless the almighty God in heaven.

David said... Psalms 34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

It is in times like this that a revitalization of our love and adoration for the Lord must be reborn in us. With a mind that is manifest in the words of our mouth that shows our adoration of our Lord.

When Moses was instructing the second generation of Israelites who were about to receive the promises of God, but only knew the simplest of life in the wilderness, that they should be thankful for what God had already provided for them and certainly were anticipating the blessings to come with in an understanding of the great love God has for his people.

Deut. 8:7 "For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land...

As He had promised... giving His people far more to come than they had seen as of yet. Looking forward... not dwelling on the past... not allowing the moment of the day to negatively effect their hearts. They kept their hearts focused on gratitude... on thankfulness!

Deut. 8:10 "When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you.

Always giving thanks for the blessings we have and the blessings to come. Always striving to see the good God gives... and the good God has promised to come.

but... Deut. 8:11 "Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statutes which I am commanding you today...

Blessing the Lord is more than just words in the mouth... it is also seen in us... in our hearts... in our attitudes... but also in our works... how we live our lives in this world.

Deut. 8:12 ...otherwise, when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have built good houses and lived in them, and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold multiply, and all that you have multiplies, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

Without the mind to BLESS THE LORD in us... we too will risk forgetting the Lord during times of prosperity... rather than BLESSING THE LORD!!!
